Did You Know?

It’s January.  A new year, new resolutions to keep or maybe quickly forget, no big holidays on the horizon, cool weather (at least here), what to do?

The McQuarrie Memorial Museum can provide a wonderful break from the January blahs. The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers have planned a different type of event on January 19 at 10:00 AM, it is “Did You Know?” This presentation by Patricia Beck Hansen will be filled with fun and interesting facts and stories about our pioneer ancestors and settling Washington County.  Did you ever wonder who was the first baby born in Dixie or the first Mayor or any of the other hundreds of ‘Firsts’?  This will be a chance to learn some trivia facts and fun little stories. 

Patti Hansen is the oldest of five children raised on a farm in Burley, Idaho, but she had strong Dixie roots even before moving here permanently in 2001.  Patti trained as a nurse and has worked in various parts of the United States.  She and her husband even served a mission in Denmark which was first opened by her great-great grandfather, Erastus Fairbanks Snow.

Patti has a history of work with the DUP, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother who were also members and officers.  She is currently Captain of the Purple Sage Camp of Washington, Utah, so she has a wealth of knowledge to draw from.

Take a little time out of the January doldrums and spend it enjoying stories and fascinating information about those hardy pioneers who settled our area.  The DUP McQuarrie Memorial Museum is located at 145 North 100 East in St. George.
